My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We pulled little Jeffery from a high-kill shelter in CA with 44 minutes to spare, after he was found in a storm drain. This was the 3rd time he had ended up in the shelter. This time, his owners didn't want him back.

Jeffery is the life of the party! Pony hopping up and down the yard, any chance he gets. He is a wildly intelligent dog. He is a big fan of other dogs, that are gentle with him.

His energy is unlike anything we've ever felt. He's a very special boy. Someone described him as a "new soul" and that connected all the pieces, that's exactly what it feels like!

He is almost completely deaf and has some vision impairment, more so affecting him at night. Jeffery has a smaller forebrain and cerebellum than most dogs, causing a slight wobble and unsteady gait. He's completely self-sufficient and can move and potty on his own. His disability doesn't get in his way whatsoever! As far as we know, Jeff was born like this.

We have been working to implement touch training with him to better communicate and give him the structure and boundaries all dogs strive for!

More about this rescue

Handover Rover is a no-kill rescue that focuses it’s efforts on helping animals that are forgotten, left for dead, abused, neglected, chained up, the ones that are in the worst conditions imaginable. We provide a massive amount of free content to help owners train their own dogs, so they don't feel the need to give them up. And we document everything for the public, from training our rescues to our rescue missions.
