My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunshine has been looking for a home for 278 DAYS!!!

Sunshine was found in a storm drain in CA. This was the 3rd time he had ended up in the shelter. This time, his owners didn't want him back and he was going to be euthanized.

Sunshine is the life of the party! Pony hopping up and down the yard, any chance he gets. He is a wildly intelligent dog. He is a big fan of other dogs, that are gentle with him.

His energy is unlike anything we've ever felt. He's a very special boy. Someone described him as a "new soul" and that connected all the pieces, that's exactly what it feels like!

He is almost completely deaf and has some vision impairment, more so affecting him at night. Sunshine has a smaller forebrain and cerebellum than most dogs, causing a slight wobble and unsteady gait. He just looks like he's had a few too many drinks! He's completely self-sufficient and can move and potty on his own. He loves to pickup stuffed animals and toss them around! His disability doesn't get in his way whatsoever! As far as we know, Sunny was born like this.

He LOVES napping and being glued on to your lap on the couch. He's the sweetest and quietest boy we've only heard him bark less than 5 times and its the cutest noise you will ever hear. Pics don't do him justice, he's very small and loves to be carried around.

More about this rescue

Handover Rover is a no-kill rescue that focuses it’s efforts on helping animals that are forgotten, left for dead, abused, neglected, chained up, the ones that are in the worst conditions imaginable. We provide a massive amount of free content to help owners train their own dogs, so they don't feel the need to give them up. And we document everything for the public, from training our rescues to our rescue missions.
