Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Star found her way into rescue when an ad appeared on FaceBook about a yard sale and some puppies being given away at the yard sale. The pups were much too young (only 4-5 weeks) to be placed in homes and mom was still nursing them. A friend and rescue colleague went to the yard sale to try to get the pups before they ended up in the wrong (or incompetent) hands but by the time she got there, all of the puppies except for Star were gone. Star was in rough shape and was very wormy. Our friend dewormed Star and fostered her with the understanding that we would take her and put her thru our rescue once we had room and she was old enough to have her fully vetted. Well..that time has finally arrived and Star made her way to us. Her foster family did a phenomenal job with her and she is very social, happy and a fun girl! She has gained weight and has started to learn crate training and was working on house manners but she is still very young (we estimate about 10 weeks as we don't have an exact birthdate) so she will need continued guidance with training and learning to be the awesome dog she will be. Mom was a terrier (bully type breed) and dad was a red Australian cattle dog so she should be a medium sized girl once full grown. Star has been socialized with cats, kids and other dogs so she should fit easily into any home environment. She is very playful and active although she enjoys cuddle time too. A family with other pets and/or kids or an active adult who will take her on fun outings and play with her would be ideal for this girl. She could really be quite versatile but remember she's a puppy with puppy level antics so be prepared for everything and anything "puppy". Star is just that and she hopes she can be the star of your show!
Star saw the vet on 4/24/24 and was found to have no issues on her exam. She is too young for a heartworm test but has been started on heartworm prevention and flea control. She will need a few more boosters on her vaccinations until she is old enough for her rabies vaccination at 4 months of age. Star tested positive for hookworms on her fecal so she was given a Drontal to treat. Overall, she's a healthy girl ready to start her new life!
If interested in giving Star her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Star's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Star based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

More about this rescue
We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
