Percy is a friendly boy about 3 years old who loves to have attention and spend time with people. He gets along with most other nice cats but does want to be the alpha. He would be very happy as an only kitty and have all your love to himself. He's quite playful once he feels comfortable in a home and will be a wonderful companion.
Percy has tested positive for FIV, also known at kitty Aids. Just like with people it is NOT contagious through casual contact. It's safe to share food, water, and litter box with a negative cat. FIV is typically only passed by a deep bite wound, where saliva from the positive cat enters the blood stream of another kitty. This is very rare in socialized house cats.
FIV cats may have a shorter life span in part due to the fact that with a compromised immune system they are more prone to contracting infections. FIV positive cats must live strictly indoors to reduce the chances of contracting something dangerous.
FIV positive cats can live well into their teens and live a very normal life. Percy is currently living side by side in a foster home with several negative cats. His eyes tend to be a little watery and we recommend Lysine (an immune system booster) at least once a day mixed into his canned food.
