Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sara was found as a stray. We estimate that she’s around 2-3 years old. She has a long body like a Basset but shorter ears. She was also born with a very short tail. She’s a Tricolor Basset Hound mix. She was very pregnant when she was found, we did an ultrasound and X-rays. She had her litter of 5 puppies 10 days after we took her in. She was timid and looked sad at first but now she’s a very sweet girl who loves to be around her people, so once she gets to know you, she warms to you. She loves belly rubs!
She had ticks and worms when she arrived but now she’s clean and looks overall healthy Sara gets along with other dogs but she’s very protective of her food, with her background of being a stray dog that explains it. We’d love to place her in a single dog home, preferably, but we’re not opposed to place her in a home with another dog in the household if is a family that would be willing to work with her or just feed the dogs separately, which is what we do. She does prefer human companion over dog companion. Aside from that, she’s a good girl who loves to be loved on and receive attention. She’s not fully house trained but we’ve been working with crate training and she’s been doing great so far. She’s not a high energy dog, she’s on the mellow side. All of her pups have been adopted, she’s now spayed and ready to be adopted too!
Included with adoption:
- Vet wellness exam
- Vaccinations up to date (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies)
- Rabies certificate
- Deworming up to date
- FLEX4 test (Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma and Lyme) - (Positive for Anaplasma, currently on Doxy treatment)
- Heartworm/Flea/tick preventive given (Simparica Trio)
- Microchip with lifetime enrollment (AKC reunite)
- DNA test report (Embark). She came back as 40% Basset Hound, 25% Cocker Spaniel and the rest were small portions of other breeds
- Spay surgery
- Dental cleaning
- Leash and collar
- Adoption contract
- Some of her current food
She has a small wart by her right elbow. Our Vet said that it was optional to have it removed, since by how it looks it’s benign. That additional surgery it’s not included in her adoption fee, it’s out of budget for our rescue. If her potential adopter would like to have it removed before adopting her, there would be a $350 fee to cover it.
If interested in adopting Sara feel free to fill out an application through our application link. Please note, we are a rescue that mainly rescue Beagles, therefore our application is directed to the Beagle breed. If you’re applying to adopt Sara please complete the application sharing the experience you may have the Basset Hound breed or with other dog breeds (not necessarily Beagles).
