Despite spending months in a kennel at Austin Animal Center, he remains an affectionate, people-loving pup. His previous guardian described him as friendly, lovable, and always eager to say hi to new friends. Big Mac recently enjoyed an overnight outing with one of our volunteers, who reported he was the perfect houseguest: fully house-trained, quiet as a mouse, and he welcomed all visitors with a wagging tail. Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
