Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Location: Decatur, IL
Requires a secure physical fenced yard, another dog or puppy mill experience.
Alice is a puppy mill survivor! She is still learning the ways of being a pet and adjusting to life in a home.
Alice is shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. She would not be suited in a home that has many guests.
Alice likes to survey her world perched on a chair or couch and this probably makes her feel safer as she can see more. She has accepted and enjoys attention from her foster mom and will sit on her lap and be petted and brushed. She is foster mom's shadow and follows her everywhere and gets under foot, making her less than ideal for someone with mobility problems.
Alice does not currently interact a lot with the resident dog but she watches and she is learning. It is recommended another dog be in the home or someone who has experience with puppy mill dogs.
Alice prefers to be near her person at night and can sleep in a crate as long as she can see her foster mom. Alice is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe.
Alice's adoption fee is $375. She will be spayed and receive a dental April 26 and ready to go home the first weekend in May. She is current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
