Mr Super Sonic!

Hi there! My name’s Sonic, and I’m a 9-month-old, 75 lb Terrier mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality! I’m bathroom and crate trained, and I do really well on a leash when I’m walking solo—though I’m still working on walking nicely when there are other dogs around.

I have lots of puppy energy, but I thrive when I get enough playtime and exercise—fetch is one of my favorite things! Once I get my energy out, I can be your calm, affectionate companion. I’m a total snuggle bug and love to be close to you—*really* close. When I say “all times,” I mean it! I want to be wherever you are, always. I’m super friendly with kids and dogs, but I’m not a fan of cats. I haven’t chased any animals in my yard, though, so I think I could get along with a kitty with the right introduction. I’m still working on my excitement levels—sometimes I jump when I’m happy, but I’m learning to keep my paws on the ground. I do get a little anxious in the car at first, but I calm down once we’re moving.

I’m food-motivated and love meeting new people. I also don’t mind getting wet (the hose and water are fine by me), and I love being loved in return. I’d do great in a home with kids, other dogs, or even with just one special person who’s looking for a sidekick. If you’ve got a yard or are an active person who loves to play fetch, I’m the perfect fit for you. Just make sure to give me some space to burn off my puppy energy, and I’ll be your loyal and loving friend forever. Let’s go on adventures together! My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.
