My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Madonna, the beautiful mother of ten puppies, is now ready to live her best life! She is very eager to learn new things about being a family dog and has already met many milestones. She can sit for a treat, walk on a leash with a harness and meets most people and other dogs with minimal reaction. She will continue to need some leash training but she is always ready for a walk and could eventually be a great running or hiking partner. She can sleep all night quietly in her crate and loves a comfy bed in the crate. She does not love staying in the crate while her people are away but is able to handle a few hours at a time. Madonna likes to play with a doggy friend although she occasionally needs to be reminded to be more gentle. She likes to play with her toys and will chew on an appropriate chew bone when offered. She will play fetch with a ball and is looking forward to learning how to return it. She is a very smart girl who figured out the doggy door without instructions. House breaking is going well and counter surfing and jumping up with excitement are some things she is still working on. Madonna is a Velcro kind of girl and will be a very devoted companion who tries to please in almost every situation. She will flourish with someone who is willing to keep her mind engaged and help her be confident in new situations. And who can resist those ears; one up and one down!

Recent Weekend Host feedback: " Madonna is good on leash. She likes to keep the pace with no issue." "Rides well in a car," "Has fantastic potty habits!" "She sleeps very well at nights. Sometimes she likes to cuddle or sleep at the foot of your bed." "Madonna is very affectionate. She always appreciates a nice head rub and kiss that tells her when she's doing something right." "Madonna is super affectionate. She loves to cuddle and nuzzle. She is especially fond of belly rubs. She loves soft toys".

Most recent Host commented: "Madonna was amazing to host, a great medium energy dog! " "She has great bathroom and eating habits, loved playing fetch, chewing on a bone and walked well without any pulling." " She enjoyed the car ride and was quiet the whole time." "She slept well in the crate." " She also had great recall, coming right to me when I whistled! "

Latest Host added: "She has excellent car manners... we drove a long way and she chewed her bone the whole time if she wasn't sticking her little nose up to the crack of air. " " She knows sit, down, place, and if you carry treats on a walk and make a kiss sound, she immediately turns and sits for a treat. " "Her potty habits were perfect along with great crate manners." "Madonna's desire for affection is absolutely the gentlest, sweetest part about her. She closes her eyes as you're scratching her head like it's absolute heaven to her. "

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
