My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I`m not just a little dog, I`m a pint-sized bundle of personality! When it comes to hanging out with my human friends, I always steal the show. I mean, who can resist this cute face and big attitude?

My favorite thing in the world is going for walks and discovering all the smells the world has to offer. And trust me, there are a lot of things to sniff out there. Whether it`s the scent of freshly-cut grass or the tantalizing aroma of a nearby BBQ, I`ve got a nose for adventure.

Now, I`ll admit that I`m not a fan of being cooped up in my kennel at the shelter. Who would be? That`s why when you first see me, I may be barking my little head off, begging you to take me out for a walk so I can stretch my legs and get my sniff on. But don`t let my enthusiasm put you off - once we hit the pavement, you`ll see that I`m a great walking companion. You hold the leash, and I`ll take care of the sniffing! I was in a home for a little while and my family there said that I liked to ride in the car and I even do okay in my crate!

Once we become friends, you`ll find that I`m a pretty independent guy who can entertain himself. But let`s be real - life is so much better with a human of my own for playtime and cuddle time. So what do you say? Let`s go on some adventures together and see where our friendship takes us. Trust me, you won`t regret it!

More about this shelter

The Animal Defense League was established in 1934 by a group of individuals, “for the prevention of cruelty to animals; to promote kind and humane treatment of animals; and to aid and assist the enforcement of laws enacted for the prevention of animal cruelty.”

In 1961, ADL moved to its present location in the easily accessible northeast part of San Antonio. Its campus encompasses more than 12 acres and includes a two-acre pet park. On the property is an Adoption Center with a small retail store, and a separate 5,000 square-foot Clinic which houses our veterinary hospital that provides onsite spay/neuter surgery, surgery for injured and ill animals, and ongoing medical care for all ADL resident animals.
