My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ennis came to ARC with another kitty because his guardian could no longer care for them. Ennis adjusted almost immediately to his new surroundings. He is a happy kitty that enjoys life and the people around him. He also enjoys spending time and playing with the other kitties in his house. If you are looking for a happy, gentle, loving kitty that likes to be around everyone—Ennis is the one for you. Make an appointment, come meet Ennis and see for yourself what a great kitty he is!

Ennis is FIV positive. FIV in cats is like HIV (the human immunodeficiency virus) and causes a feline disease that is like AIDS in humans. Although FIV is like AIDS in humans it is a highly species-specific virus that infects only felines. While there is currently no definitive cure for FIV in felines, with proper care there is no reason a cat infected with FIV cannot live a very normal, healthy life for years -- if managed appropriately.

More about this rescue

The Animal Refuge Center (ARC) of Fort Myers is a not for profit animal welfare society dedicated to stopping the escalating cost to impound, care for, kill and dispose of dogs and cats dying for no reason other than having been born. ARC is helping to cut the large numbers of homeless animals which eventually cuts the costs to taxpayers, which to date has reached over half a million dollars a year.

ARC is a non-euthanasia organization. Once we accept an animal for adoption, IT WILL NOT BE DESTROYED TO MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER. We are here to help the unwanted and neglected animals who now face certain death.
