Meet Pecos!

Pecos is a wonderful, sweet, and very unique dog. He came to Colorado from Texas and is looking for his new life. Pecos spent some time in a boarding facility until his foster picked him up and started to show him the love he deserves.

He weighs about 55 pounds and has the very sweetest personality. He took some time to warm up to his new surroundings and is learning to trust humans again.

He is besties with his Cattle Dog housemate, and he's very socialized with friends’ dogs. He is THE BEST hiking buddy. He doesn’t run off, his recall is perfect, and he loves to play with his dog friends off trail.

He is not dog or cat reactive. He loves people but seems to love men the most.

Pecos is very smart and has learned basic obedience with his foster. He knows wait, go, stay, and sit. On walks, if his leash gets behind his front leg, he knows “fix it” and he will lift his leg for you.

One especially cute thing: Every single morning after coming out of his kennel, where he sleeps happily, he does big stretchies and lets out a good morning howl. (He might be very slightly mixed with Husky?)

This boy walks perfectly on a leash and doesn't care about other dogs seen out on his walks. He’s 100% house-trained and neutered. He forces his head into your hand for scratchies and love pats. He “talks” when you pet him to show how much he loves affection. It’s adorable. He’s just a sweet boy trying to find his forever home.

Pecos will do best if he finds a home without small animals or small children.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Pecos, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.
