My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A PLAYFUL AND SWEET KITTEN:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 8.5 lbs.

Hi, I’m Mandarin – a handsome guy with the most striking, soft coat and full tail.  As a young kitten, a good Samaritan found my four siblings and me without our momma, and they were able to get us to Mostly Mutts.  I was diagnosed with diabetes, and I’ve been in a great foster home over the last several months, where diet and insulin put diabetes in remission, and I am no longer on insulin.  I am now ready to find a great family of my very own!

• OTHER CATS/DOGS/KIDS:  I got along very well with my siblings who shared my former foster home when I was with Mostly Mutts previously!  I may enjoy another kitty in my home, so if you have a nice kitty at home already, let’s meet! / Dogs unknown / I liked the 11-year-old in my former foster home.  Children in my new home may be nice, since I am a playful kitty, but best they are gentle and know how to handle a kitty, and – of course, let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY INFORMATION:  My foster describes me as ‘a social, active kitty’ who wants to be near my humans.  I’m not really a lap kitty, but I will seek out attention by settling in next to you and making myself available for a good belly rub.  I’m quite social and will meet you at the door when you've been away from me.  I  save my voice for when I need to tell you something important, like when I’m hungry - lol.  I give soft trills, rather than meows – so cute!  Playful with a natural kitty curiosity, I am happy be your loyal, furry family member!

• SKILLS/LITTER TRAINED STATUS:  I keep my area clean, as I am litter trained.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to play, and I play well by myself – often watching what goes on outside my window and playing soccer with a ball or a spring.  I especially love my wand toy play and get the zoomies each morning and evening.  Though not much for sitting on your lap,  I prefer my own space while I take in a belly rub – my favorite!  I am a very handsome fellow and  love having my luxurious coat brushed. / I can’t think of any dislikes since I am a kitten, but I would not be happy if I did not get the love and attention all kitties deserve!

• MEDICAL:  I am up to date on my vaccinations, microchipped, combo tested negative and neutered.  With my diabetes in remission, I am no longer taking insulin.  The vet says the need for insulin may return at some point in my life, so I should be monitored for increased water intake, increased urination, and/or weight loss.  I have been on a ‘canned-food-only’ diet with a frequent feeding schedule (Fancy feast kitten and classic pate) to keep my blood sugar stable – about 3 cans a day.

I am looking for a great home where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $175.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
