My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

She'll be a treemendous friend!

Hi pals! I am Madrone, tall and stately, but with a cute goofiness. I am a 4 year old, spayed female Queensland Heeler mix, weighing about 52 lbs. I was rescued from the Riverside Shelter, and I was lucky to have been rescued by TAP. I was pregnant and had puppies in TAP's care. They are adopted and now it's mama's turn to be pampered! I am bathroom trained and working on my leash manners.

Fir-reals, I am a good girl and super smart! I am a working breed mix and thrive on enrichment activity and exercise. I will be a delight to work out with and tricks training. Gopher holes are a huge weakness of mine, and one day I am gonna get 'em! When tuckered out, I am a wonderful cuddler. You better be-leaf me that I am a lover gal and aim to please. I can startle with loud cars, dog and people in the dark, particularly men. I will need some decompression time to overcome and get desensitized to my triggers. But I am still a good gal nevertheless! I am selective with dogs and still trying to figure out where I stand on my liking! I think a slow introduction can help. I dont have experience with kids and I am a no-no with cats.

You will get lots of fun and a-corny jokes with me! My ideal home will be with a yard or on a ranch, with lots of activities, training and purpose. I will thrive with exercises like hiking, running, nose-work and with mental games. As long as I have attention and activity, I will be a happy bunny! If you think we will have awesome chemis-tree, let's meet up! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
