Here's what the humans have to say about me:
According to the vet, Sunny, the mom of the Kiplings, is 6-12 months old. She is rare in that she is a female orange tabby. Almost all orange tabbies are male. Sunny was dumped on a farm property in Great Falls, SC, and taken to the Lancaster Animal Shelter on March 13, 2024. She came to our rescue on March 15. Sunny must have had positive human contact somewhere along her life journey because she is as sweet as she is beautiful. But she was also very pregnant.
The reason her litter is called the Kiplings is because Kip, a former foster of ours did not leave Sunny’s side once she arrived at the foster house. Kip is from our 2021 Lumberyard Litter. Kip is notoriously ferocious; however, whenever his adopter fosters kittens for our rescue, “Kipzilla” miraculously transforms into “Uncle Kip.” We have no idea how or why, but Kip becomes a doting foster father to kittens.
On March 24, 2024, Sunny gave birth to the Kiplings - five kittens. All were healthy, and Sunny has done a great job as a mom. In honor of Kip’s care and devotion, we named the kittens after characters from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. Our males Mowgli, Rama, Baloo, and our females Shanti, Kaa.
Some good news is that Sunny has already been adopted! She will go home with one of her kittens, but the adopter is flexible and will see which kittens get adopted in pairs. The kittens will be old enough to be separated from Sunny and leave with their adopters by mid to late May.
We would prefer to see the remaining four adopted in pairs. Obviously, the kittens are siblings and all bonded, and two cats will keep each other company when you are at work or away. They will also burn off a lot of energy you don’t have to deal with. The adoption fee is $150 for one kitten and $225 for two. The fee covers FIV/FeLV testing, deworming, vaccinations, and spay/neuter with a partner clinic.
