Meet Sockey! Sockey is a senior female who initially came to ACCT in 2022 when her family was no longer able to care for her. She came in with another cat, who sadly was sent to another home.
Sockey was adopted out, but returned almost 2 years later as the home was too stressful for her and she was urinating outside the litter box because of that. Her previous family noted that she spent 9 months hiding in their basement.
Since returning to the shelter, Sockey has remained quiet and shy. She was recently moved to an office to help bring her out of her shell, and with just a few days in a quieter office, she has already started to show her true personality! While she does still want to hide, she will relax once you start to pet her, and with additional petting and conversation, will come out of her hiding space and rub against your legs for more pets. She is also quite a chatty lady!
Her litter box habits have been PERFECT since moving into an office.
Sockey would love a quiet home with a single adult or couple with no other pets, or another quiet, tolerant cat, where she can be the focus of attention. She is such a sweet lady, and just needs someone to give her a chance! Email her foster mom at jessie@acctphilly.org for more info.
