Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This big boy is just so much fun! Wrigs is usually to be found right in the middle of wherever the action is, bouncing on his littermates, teasing them into a game of tug, and generally acting the clown. But oh he is a lover! Let a human set foot in the Floofs' play area, and Wrigs will come running for cuddles and tummy rubs and whatever other attention he can get!
HISTORY
Mama dog Tahlili is an Anatolian Shepherd who had a job overseeing a small flock of goats. When her owner got rid of the goats, she had to leave too. She was heavily pregnant when he started looking on Facebook for someone to take her, and her babies were just two days old when he released them to HART. They have been together in a loving foster home ever since.
We know Tahlili's breed, and she appears to be purebred (a little small for an Anatolian, but that could be due to poor feeding). The breed of the pups' fathers can be no more than our best guess, taking into account their size and appearance - but we think it's possible Wrigs' daddy is something along the lines of a Newfoundland - at any rate, something really big, and probably black.
GENERAL TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR
It's too soon to know much about what kind of dogs the Floofs will grow into, but here's what we know:
Tahlili is an exceptionally calm, gentle dog who is learning to trust humans and to love being petted. She's a wonderful mother, who faithfully watches over her babies and has kept them well fed and clean from the beginning.
The Floofs have been gently handled several times a day since their first days in their foster home. They are now all confident, friendly, trusting, and very playful. They spend nights indoors, but are outside with a big yard to play in all day. They love toys, wrestling, exploring, and playing tag.
It's important to remember: the Floofs are puppies, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! These little guys are just getting started - they have sharp nails and needle teeth, and they love to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as they're concerned, anything and everything is for play. They still have everything to learn about being civilized members of a mainly-human family. They will trip you up, piddle on your carpet, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt a Floof unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise them right!
HEALTH STATUS
The Floofs were born on February 27, 2024. These babies are going to be BIG dogs. Based on our most recent estimate, the smallest two - Poppy and Little Dot - could reach 120 lbs, while the largest - Otis and Wrigs - could grow to 150 lbs. At this age estimates tend to be inaccurate, but they're definitely not lapdogs, even though they might want to be!
They have been fed high-quality large-breed puppy food since they began weaning (and Mama Tahlili has also been on a high quality diet, to ensure she's able to feed them well). They have been regularly dewormed, and will receive their second puppy shot, and will be microchipped, prior to adoption. It will be your responsibility to ensure they receive a full course of vaccination.
HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so these pups have not been sterilized. You will be required in terms of the adoption contract to have your pup sterilized by the time they are 12 months old. HART will refund you $100 upon receiving proof of adoption.
