My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joey is a 4-year-old Domestic Shorthair mix that is the embodiment of love and joy in feline form. His personality shines through his sweet and gentle nature. He's the perfect companion for a game of chase-the-laser, and he's equally content to curl up on your lap for a cuddle session! His friendliness extends to other cats, making him a great addition to a multi-cat household. This ladies man is a sucker for kisses and has an endless reserve of energy! Adopt Joey and fill your life with feline fun and affection!

Joey is FIV+, FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is one of the most common cat viruses that can only spread between cats through deep bite wounds. With proper and routine care, cats with FIV+ generally live average lifespans.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is to aid in the alleviation of distress and suffering of animals by operating a shelter in need of care, placing animals in suitable homes, and offering educational programs that promote animal welfare.

We receive our animals from people giving up their pets for a variety of reasons, including changes in family situations and moving. Some of our animals have been strays rescued from the streets by a kind citizen, but all of our animals are looking for permanent, loving forever homes.
