Meet Dewey, a 1 year old, 28 lb Shiba Inu with a beautiful red sesame coat who came to Wish Bone unsocialized and afraid - usual noises in a home, sudden movements, even stuffed toys frightened him. With all of his fears though, he has never shown any aggressive behavior. Dewey is making progress in his foster home, but still has a ways to go to overcome his fears and gain confidence. He trusts his foster mom, gives her kisses, takes treats very gently and is becoming more confident inside the home. He is still working on leash training and isn't ready for walks in the neighborhood.
Dewey is housetrained, crate trained, quiet, gets along well with the other dogs in the home and has just started to show interest in playing with one of the foster's dogs. He enjoys getting brushed, hanging out in the family room and chewing on a bully stick. He would do best in a quiet home with a family that has the patience and compassion to give him the time he needs to overcome his fear while he adjusts to a new home.
Dewey's adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 registration fee for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
