My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, I'm Maya, the sweet and social Pit mix on the lookout for my forever family! At 5 years young, I've got plenty of love to give and a heart as big as can be.

So, let's address the elephant in the room first - those stomach issues. Yep, I'll admit it, I've had a few accidents in the past when I've gotten into some human food. But hey, who can resist a tasty treat, am I right? On the bright side, I'm house-trained for the most part, and with a little guidance on what's off-limits, I'm sure we can keep those accidents to a minimum.

Now, about my tendency to guard the younger children... Yep, guilty as charged. Sometimes I just can't help but want to keep an eye on them, especially if someone approaches too quickly. But hey, it just goes to show how much I care about my little humans! And don't worry, I'm never aggressive about it - just a bit protective.

When it comes to other dogs, well, let's just say I'm a social butterfly! I've lived with small dogs before and played well with larger ones here at the shelter. I had a minor scuffle with a previous dog, though that was an intact male who was a little too interested in me. With some positive reinforcement and proper introductions, I know I can be the pawfect playmate for any furry friend.

Oh, and did I mention how affectionate I am? Yep, it's true! I'm a cuddle bug through and through, and I just can't resist showering my humans with love and kisses. Plus, I'm a quick learner - I already know commands like sit and down, and I've even been crate trained in the past.

Sure, I may be a tad timid in new situations, but who isn't? With a patient and loving family by my side, I know I'll gain confidence in no time. So, if you're looking for a loyal companion who's equal parts loving and lovable, look no further than me, Maya! Let's make some unforgettable memories together - I can't wait to meet you!
