Dinosaur’s mannerisms remind us a lot of Scooby Doo. This playful goofball is happy go lucky, handsome and adores affection. He is smart beyond his years - At just 1 year old he has playful puppy adolescence, but still knows Sit & Stay. Adopting Dinosaur at just 1 year young means you can install positive habits and build a lasting bond together from the early days!

Dino always has a big grin on his face - getting belly rubs? Smiling. Exploring and sniffing the play yard? Big ole Grin. Running around in circle to get his zoomies out? Yup, smiling! He is versatile, adaptable and oh so easy going when it comes to getting in and out of his kennel. He’d do well with an adopter who is a first time dog owner because of his easy nature. He is sure to bring you laughter, joy and lots of laughs with his smiling face every morning.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
