Meet Ringo, the1 year old,70 pound sweetheartwith a unique personality. He was found as a stray earlier this year playing with kids at a park in north Texas. He loves giving everyone kisses and is just such an amazing dog! His energy level makes him an excellent companion for running, hiking, and long walks.
Ringo is house trained and signals when he needs to go out! He's fully crate trained, relaxes in it during the day, and willingly goes in it at night. Ringo isn't destructive as long as he's entertained, has enrichment toys, crated when home alone, and exercised properly. He alerts his people by barking when people come by, but he doesn't bark much. He is protective, constantly watching (not in any aggressive manner whatsoever). For example, when he was at the park with his foster's son, the kid wanted to go play on the play set. While he was in Ringo's eye view, that wasn't good enough for him. He turned towards him and sat, fully alert, just watching him play.
He'd be great in a home with other big dogs (he's mostly been around large female dogs aside from his foster fur sibling Tank & does great aside from bothering him since Tank is older & can't keep up with him during play for long) and children 8+ as he doesn't realize his size and can knock smaller kids over by accident. He has been around cats and isn't interested in them at all, so he would do fine in a home with cats!He truly does love kids and would love to be a part of a family with some. He may bug an older dog by trying to "herd" them, so it'd be best that he has a younger dog friend if he has one in the home at all.
Ringo knows commands like Sit, Stay, No, and Release (when he's allowed to start eating his food). When Ringo waits for you to say "release," he will drool and his top lip will hang up on one side, so it looks like he has a snaggle tooth.. it's so cute! He knows "get it," so when his foster mom points at something and says that, he'll pick it up - like a stuffed toy! He's a very curious, food motivated boy and needs mental stimulation. He has completed lots of puzzles, so he's very smart. He walks great on leash. We're still working on his attention while out & walking on a loose leash. He will just gently tug, but is very easily redirected when told "no."
When Ringo encounters new things, such as the park he went to for his photo shoot, he just goes with the flow. There was a dog across the pond that was barking his head off at Ringo. While Ringo kept eyes on the dog, he didn't react. He also saw geese walking around and didn't mind them! If it were a squirrel though... that would have been another story, lol! Him and his foster fur sibling Tank chase squirrels in the backyard!
Ringo may not be a cuddler, but he loves rubbing his head against people he likes. Sometimes when he gives you a head rub, his shoulder follows along with his back and it turns into a whole body rub from Ringo. Another funny thing Ringo does is that he will walk in circles around his people. Also, when his foster mom is walking from room to room or anywhere, he'll walk in front of her and try to guide her with his body, lol! When he was at the park for his photoshoot, he wanted to herd his human foster brother so badly! He will try to guide with his body and tail in whichever direction he wants you to go into! He's the funniest boy! He also likes to lay on the opposite end of the couch and observe everything / see what's going on.
While he doesn't require another dog at home, he does need a fenced yard or an active adopter who will keep him on leash at all times (unless at the dog park / another fenced yard) as he likes to wander. Overall, Ringo thrives with human companionship and an active lifestyle. He will make an amazing family dog!

Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).
Our adoption fee is $350plus health certificate and transport (varies by location). This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, microchip (additional $12.99 registration fee required at time of adoption), fecal analysis, spay/neuter for dogs 6 months & older, and a heartworm test if over 6 months old. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport.
