My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mr Whiskers and Talulla are siblings who lived alone in a vacant apartment for months, only being fed every couple of days. They are adjusting well, and learning how to trust humans again. These two are very chill, with a boisterous hour in the morning, and one in the evening (usually involving chasing each other and playing with their foster parents). If the mood strikes them, Mr Whiskers will sit on your chest, and Talulla on your lap. They love to explore and sniff every nook and cranny, and love to chat with their people. They also love being brushed.

Mr. Whiskers is the head butt king. He is very excited to be out and about, and is very eager to get any and all attention. This boy is sweet as can be, but will let you know when he is overstimulated and doesn't want any more pets. He loves having a full view of everyone at all times. He also loves to trot up to the door and greet you when you get home. His favorite toy is his laser pointer.

Talulla is a bit more nervous than her brother, but leans into pets once she gets comfortable. It's worth the wait, because she is such a sweetheart. Her favorite toy is any string toy. She is very cuddly once she gets comfy.

Talulla was rescued with dental issues and is in need of surgery. In lieu of an adoption fee, we would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
