My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

  Hi guys - Biggio here!   I am a really cool cat, per my foster mom. I am full of curiosity and mischief and I love to explore, run, and play. I will climb up your legs to be held - but then I want down immediately. I adore other kitties and will cuddle with just about anyone. I am fine with nice, small dogs and pretty much any other kitty:) I do love to wrestle with other kitties, but if they don't like that, I will leave them alone. I was rescued from a high-volume county shelter injured. I had wounds on my legs and side - maybe from a dog or I got caught in a fence? I am now fully healed and seeking a forever family wanting a constant companion. I also had to have all of my teeth removed due to stomatitis. My mouth feels so much better! I primarily eat canned food but can also eat dry food. I am a vacuum and eat a lot. My belly is growing:) I have tons of purrsonality and character according to my foster mom and I keep her on her toes (along with all of the other animals in my foster home!) Come meet me one day and let me climb out of the cage onto your chest - I will purr my head off for you! I love loving!!!!!  

  The cat adoption fee is $110 (or $175 for two cats). Second Chance Pets is a foster-based organization so all animals live in foster homes throughout the area. All cats are spayed/neutered, tested for FIV and feline leukemia, fully vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed and microchipped. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Clear Lake Petco (2410 Bay Area Blvd, Houston 77058). Potential adopters must complete an application and SCP volunteers can help adopters identify cats and dogs that will fit best in their homes. SCP adoption counselors review the applications, conduct in-person interviews and discuss pet care responsibilities with potential adopters. SCP checks applicants' vet references and may conduct a home visit at its discretion. So that the best interests of the pet are served, SCP reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone. The adoption fee starts at $110 for cats ($175 for two cats), $190 for dogs and $245 for puppies.

SCP tries to ensure that all pets are healthy at the time of adoption. All are examined by veterinarians when they enter the program. All are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, tested/treated for parasites and disease (such as heartworms, fleas, feline leukemia and FIV) as needed. Cats are vaccinated for FVRCP and FeLV. Dogs are vaccinated for DHLPP and Corona virus. Animals are kept in foster homes to minimize exposure to disease and to help them be well-adjusted. It is the policy of SCP that no cat or dog may be sent to a permanent home before it is fully vetted, including spay or neuter. All of our rescued animals are microchipped.

SCP does not have a shelter or an office location. The rescued pets, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who comprise SCP come from all over the Galveston Bay area (mainly north Galveston and south Harris counties). Our adoptable animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.

SCP has cats and dogs available for adoption every Saturday (cats 10:30-2:00 and dogs 11:00-2:00) at the Petco store in Clear Lake (2410 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058 - corner of Bay Area and Space Center). A few cats may also be seen during the week in the condos at this Petco location.
