My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Winnie was brought in by a community member.

At SDHS:
Winnie has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed and is now ready for her new home!

Why Winnie might be the one for you:
Isn't Winnie gorgeous with her striking white vest and darling ears? She is a big girl who may be shy when you first meet her, but don't let that fool you! She absolutely loves her people. Though she prefers to take things slow, with a little patience, she blossoms to reveal the loving companion our staff know her to be. Winnie has become a calm, mellow dog in our care. She has discovered that she likes calm over action. She takes her walks slowly and without drama. She likes outdoor space where she can meander at her pace. She will want a dog savvy owner in a quiet home and provides her a predictable routine. She would to curl up by her person's side and take many naps a day although rumor has it that she snores. She wants to continue learning new skills, as she's already mastered quite a few during her time in our care! We would love to tell you more about Winnie Please come to our campus and meet Winnie to see why you should give this lovely lady a chance!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
