This older gentleman was brought to HSOV after hours on the evening of April 10, 2024 and placed in an outside kennel near the front entrance of our shelter. The individual who placed him there did not leave any information about him, but the following day (after his first photos were posted on Facebook) we received a phone call from a compassionate person who recognized him and provided a partial background story ...
BoBo (which is his real name) is a 10-year old male Pit Bull Terrier mix. BoBo has a black-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and a cute white face with hopeful brown eyes, a black button nose, and short floppy ears. Bobo's left ear is white, and his right ear is black with a large patch of black at the base of that ear. This older guy will surely tug at your heartstrings when he looks up with sad eyes which beg for kindness.
We've learned that BoBo does not do well with small/young children (especially if they happen to be carrying toys), so BoBo should NOT be placed in a home where he would have contact with youngsters. BoBo does not do well with small dogs .. Unsure how he feels about large dogs. BoBo is NOT trustworthy around cats and under no circumstances should he be near a cat.
BoBo is housetrained.
These photos of BoBo were taken late in the afternoon on April 11th when HSOV Volunteer Tracy Lynn spent time with BoBo and showered him with attention and told him many times 'what a good boy he was'. BoBo was a little apprehensive about walking outdoors with two relatively unknown ladies (to him anyway), but within a few minutes he seemed to realize that they were both kind people who loved him already.
BoBo's expressions brought tears to our eyes as he looked up so timidly, and we could totally understand how frightening this must be for BoBo losing his home after so many years.
BoBo weighs 70 lbs. He has already been neutered.
Our kennel techs/staff have noted that BoBo has shown no aggression towards larger dogs in the shelter nor with his new people friends.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, BoBo will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold since technically he was not surrendered by his owner.
