My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tanner came to the shelter as a stray in February, very rambunctious and energetic. He’s sixty pounds and about four years old. Since arriving at the shelter, Tanner has made himself a staff and volunteer favorite. He loves going on walks, he loves treats, he enjoys the water, and he rides nicely in the car. He would excel in a basic obedience class; he’s very food-motivated and eager to please. We think he would do well in almost any family: people who live alone, empty-nesters, retirees, even active families with respectful kids. He`s attended a few of the shelter training classes, and he loves to learn! If you’re looking for a loving canine companion to accompany you on life’s adventures, look no further than Tanner! Once you meet him, you`ll love him, too!

Meet the Pet

If you decide on the pet you meet, they will be put in for a pre-adoption vet check. It can take up to a week for your pet to come home.

So you’re ready to add a family member to your home! Well you’re at the right place! To begin, you can view our animals available for adoption online, but there’s nothing like the real thing. We welcome you to come to our shelter and spend some time getting to know our animals in person.

To start off, please review the adoption guidelines below to speed up the adoption process:

1. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

2. All adoption applications must be filled out completely.

3. An adoption application must be completed before any animal can be taken out for a visit. No animal will be taken out for a visit prior to this time.

4. You will need picture ID, with name and current address, to photo copy onto your application.

5. Any animal on a HOLD cannot be taken out for a visit until its holding time is up and it is available for adoption.

6. All dogs MUST be licensed with your Town prior to leaving the CNYSPCA, ask adoption counselor for further details.
