My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Truffle
My name is Truffle, and I am a unique and intriguing 1-year-old cat. I was transferred from a crowded shelter to HSHC, along with nine other cats. So, does it make me feel insecure when nine of the ten cats from another shelter have been adopted? Yes. I was only 11 months old and shaking in my boots when I arrived. Since I was still technically a kitten, I thought I`d be adopted quickly. But my scaredy-cat behavior told a different story. I went into a foster home to learn to be brave, but since moving into a Roaming Room, I`m still a bit of a wallflower. Recently, when the interviewer lady (IL) came to my Roaming Room, she stopped at each cat to check how they were doing. I looked at her but did not let her come close. I avoided talking with her by hopping from one place to another. So, I am still afraid to trust people. Since I am young, I have years and years ahead of me. I am confident I will improve my bravery quotient in time with some TLC. I am a pretty, petite, brown Tabby with golden eyes. Please let me go home with you if you know how to make a shrinking violet feel courageous. I am a unique and intriguing cat, waiting for the right person to bring out my full potential. 8-28-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
