Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MADISON HEIGHTS, VIRIGINIA - - Meet Danny our one-eyed puppy pirate (~10 months old). Danny is UTD/Neutered and was abused enough as a puppy that he lost his eyeball. He is NOT AFFECTED AT ALL SOCIALLY BY THE ABUSE. He is a forgiven, calm, sweet puppy that loves loves meeting all kinds of people (men, ladies and adores children!!). He is not affected by only having one eye.
Danny like all pirates had a rough start to his life. This pirate is looking for his forever crew. Danny’s ideal crew would be to have a female dog and respectful loving children. Even though he lost his eye, he still wants to play and love on people including children. He will jump in his excitement to greet people and can be a little exuberant but that is just his puppy love. He has been around children as young as 3. Danny is currently 109lbs and in good health but needs some weight put on.
Currently, Danny has a hots spots from his cone after his eye surgery and neutering; however, healing everyday. Our vet has shaved the hair for the hots spot to heal quickly. Everyday gets better and better. His foster mom cleans with iodine, dries area and adds medicine powder. He has been treated for ear yeast infection (30 days treatment - leave it). There isn’t a people food he doesn’t want to try. Due to the fact that he is tall he may try to sneak some food from counters but answers to no. The pirate in him can’t resist 😎. He is a growing boy and needs high quality nutritious food, including eggs, meats. A great diet is key to healing and healthy growth. Like any good pirate, Danny wants to steal kisses and treats 😉 He understands sit, no, come (when not distracted). He loves the outdoors and walks well on a leash unless he wants to greet someone or hot scent of an animal but with continued work he will be an amazing walking partner. He enjoys laying next to his foster mom when she works from home and enjoys his nap. Belly rubs are a favorite. Is your family the right crew for this sweet adorable pirate? Arrgh,.....
Sidenote: He has not been around cats. He was previously with two medium size males and a small female Jack Russell…they said he did well. He doesn’t have a high prey drive or any aggression towards all chickens that were running around. His only issue was the one home where the alpha bloodhound kept attacking him and he finally stuck up for himself.
