My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾Miss Cedar is available for foster, foster to adopt and adoption.❤️

Cedar has been with us since April 2021. She is literally one of our OG's at F.A.B.R. Cedar has been living with me for almost 4 years. This dog has taught me so much! She did get to be in a foster home for a couple of months. Due to the management plan set in place not being followed as requested, she did not do as well as she could have.
Cedar deserves her own home and family. This dog has completely done a 180 from the dig she was 4 years ago. She's a beautiful soul full of love and loyalty. She is honestly such an amazing dog and it's baffling to us she is still with us. Not that we mind at all!!! Cedar does not currently live in a kennel. She freely roams our rescue room where 4 males are kenneled individually. She has her own bed, toys and has free run of the entire space. The boys love interacting with her, she does like to be goofy and put on a show for them lol.

Name: Cedar
Age: 6 years old
Breed: Mastiff Mix
Energy: Low to medium
Weight: 100 lbs
Spay/Neuter: Yes
Dogs: Needs proper intro, does better with males. Females are a NO!
Cats: Yes, dog savvy cats only.
Kids: Yes but we feel an adult home only is recommended
Crate Trained: Yes
House Trained: Yes
Any Aggression (food or other): Comes from an abusive past, therefore needs a quieter household with a strong leader who she can trust and feel safe with. She does great with woman, men she is extremely selective and needs more time and patience to bond with them. Would do best in a female only home but can live with an adult male she connects with. And if there's 2 adults in the home, both people have to be fully involved in her care.
Here's a message from our girl!
"Hello everyone, I am so excited to introduce myself. My name is Cedar and I am a fun girl who loves to play!
I had a bit of a rough start to life as my previous life had some abuse on my previous pet parent and me. Which makes me nervous is negative situations but I’ve become really good at staying calm when my rescue mom is by my side because I know she will keep me safe. I've had a blast playing with my step brothers Jax and Kane. They can sure tire me out! Those dudes don't stop playing. While I could live with another brother my size, if I am being 100% honest I would absolutely love to be the only animal in the house so that I can take all the love and pets for myself. I do get jealous of other dogs and can be reactive.
I have been with my rescue mom for awhile now and as much as I am living a good life with them, I am ready to find my forever family. I am looking for a family who has experience and see's the value in consistent training and working their dog. While my leash skills are good, I was under socialized in my early years, but don't worry I am a really quick learner and I get so much joy from it! And my foster mom is great at socializing me! I know some basic commands and would love to learn more!
Oh! It would be wonderful if my forever family liked to get out on adventures because I love taking in all the new smells and fresh air!"

Cedar is very smart so takes to training very well, which is great as this has continued to help her progress with building confidence. Because she can be timid or shy, she would do amazing in a home with a confident owner. Also she needs an experienced dog handler to lead her.
She cannot be in a hectic home or a home with people who are not gentle with her. Due to her abuse in her pass, a home with hand raising and yelling will cause Cedar to be reactive. In a quiet loving fun home, shes a charcater who makes you laugh and is great a cuddling. A home with limited guest is best suited for her.

More about this rescue

Strong and powerful breeds are some of the most misunderstood, feared and mistreated breeds in North America. As well as dominant and so called aggressive breeds. Thousands in our very own home of Ontario alone are euthanized, seized, dumped and surrendered. And at FABR we want to change that starting today, with you!

We strive to rescue power breed types, bully types, large and extra large dogs, the ones shelters and some rescues would dare take in. We rehabilitate, train, care for them and find them their forever homes. And we do travel out of province to bring them to safe provinces that do not hold a BSL ban, when needed. Every dog deserves a chance at life. A chance to be loved and have a family. Here at FABR we make that happen.

With fosters, volunteers and help from the community, we help and specialize in providing dogs with a safe place to be. A place for them to be the best they can be without judgment.

Once we take in a dog, our team starts assessments and planning what the dog needs are base on the dogs behaviors, personality and history (if we are giving any info of course). From there our team works with each dog individually to help them become ready to find their forever homes. We work hard to ensure our dogs have all the fundamentals needed in life and behavior wise to be successful in their new homes. With daily exercise, training, socialization and lots of play time.
Through all of our endeavors we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs.
