Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi there, my name is Bear, and I’ve been waiting almost a whole year for my forever family to find me. I’m the longest-term resident at the shelter, and while everyone here takes great care of me, I dream of the day I finally get to go home. Could that home be yours?
I’m a 4-year-old, 62-pound Labrador Retriever and Australian Cattle Dog mix with the perfect blend of intelligence, loyalty, and love. I have a medium energy level—I’m always up for a walk or a game of fetch (which I absolutely love!), but I also enjoy just hanging out and spending time with my favorite people. I do great on a leash and would love to be your walking buddy, hiking partner, or backyard playmate.
I get along well with other dogs, and I have experience being around the elderly, so I know how to be gentle and respectful. I’m also a fantastic travel companion—I load up easily into a car and ride nicely, making me the perfect partner for road trips or weekend adventures.
I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and incredibly smart. I’m very treat-motivated, which makes learning new things easy and fun! I’m eager to please and always ready to be by your side, whether that’s playing outside or cuddling up after a long day.
I don’t understand why I’ve been overlooked for so long. I have so much love to give and just need someone to give me a chance. I’ve been patiently waiting, watching as other dogs find their homes, hoping that one day it’ll be my turn. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving companion, I promise I won’t let you down.
Please come meet me today—let’s make this long wait worth it. I just know my forever family is out there, and I can’t wait to finally go home. 🐾💙 You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 for any other questions. **************** All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.
Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.
Adoption Fees: -$60 for cats -$60 for dogs over 6 years -$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years -$100 for puppies up to 6 months
Come visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.

When you decide to adopt a pet, we charge a fee to cover some of our costs. (Except for 2 employees, all others are volunteers!) If there is any problem with your adopted pet, call us to work out a solution. Occasionally, we do take adopted pets back, but very seldom. This is why visiting our shelter is so important! We are willing to work with you! And we appreciate referrals!
