My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chuck. We are smitten with this dog who reminds us of his resilience every day. With an intake date of 10/26/22 at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center and the fate of having to spend the next fourteen months on evidence hold, Chuck's world was very small. For a love bug like himself, the fact that he was rarely allowed to exit from his kennel must’ve been torture. Even after the hold was lifted, Chuck didn’t attract an adopter; due to overcrowding at the shelter, his future was put in jeopardy. On 1/17/24, we were thrilled to tell Chuck that we were breaking him out of the shelter, once and for all.

He's a three-year-old Lab/Shepherd mix who loves people and is great with other dogs. Crate-trained, house-trained, and easy on the leash, Chuck is ready for his forever home. Being highly treat motivated, he knows his basic commands and is a quick learner. If you're looking for an active, fun, playful dog who likes to cuddle, Chuck is the one for you.

More about this rescue

K9 Kismet Dog Rescue is a foster-based, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Long Beach, CA. Founded in 2015, our dedicated team has helped to place hundreds of animals in loving, permanent homes.

Our primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, permanent homes for homeless dogs, specifically dogs in shelters at-risk of euthanasia and dogs whose owners can no longer care for them. We believe in compassionate rescue when the dog is enduring inhumane living conditions or likely to be deemed less adoptable due to age, health, emotional state, or breed. We ensure that all the dogs we take into our rescue, regardless of individual needs, are cared for with love and compassion for the duration of their lives.

We strive to make a difference in the life of each dog we bring into our pack, and our commitment to each dog doesn’t end once they are adopted. We provide lifelong support to all K9 Kismet alumni should an emergency arise. Once a K9 Kismet Dog, always a K9 Kismet Dog. This isn’t a catch phrase; this is a core value.
