Beckett’s Backstory
Beckett was dropped off at an animal control facility we partner with that is continually overcapacity. Beckett’s owners did not have the time for his intelligence and to see him through positive reinforcement training courses.
The stellar staff there asked us to help get him out quickly as he was panicking from the stress there. He’s a sensitive soul and incredibly smart. He knew it was not a good place for any dog to be for any length of time.
The moment Beckett was with his foster parent, he was elated and wouldn’t stop giving him kisses! He knew he had the help he needed to be safe.
It is an honor to know and help dear Beckett find a permanent home with people who are willing to commit to loving him for his lifetime!
Beckett has hair that grows indefinitely and will need daily brushing and haircuts every 4-6 weeks. Please keep this in mind and be willing to commit to grooming him for his lifetime. His main photographs show his incredible hair long. He's recently been given a spring haircut -- as shown in the photograph of him outside happy in a yard.
Beckett’s personality is described as this by his foster family:
“Beckett is the sweetest boy. Probably one of the sweetest I’ve ever helped, and I’ve fostered over 350 dogs. Not one aggressive bone in this boy’s body. He gets along with our other dogs. He asks to go outside when he has to potty. He takes direction like a champ. He’s the most trainable dog I’ve met in some time. He just needs someone willing to spend time going to training classes. This big boy is ready to learn.”
Ideal home:
Beckett is in need of being connected to his person. He is loyal and devoted.
He will do well in a home with other dogs, provided the other dogs are well trained and his adopters are willing to go through training courses with him. He LOVES playing with other dogs! With this in mind, we are looking to find an adopter who is experienced with the Portuguese Water Dog and Bernese breeds or is all in and ready to learn. He is so, so SMART. He’s a sponge and ready to learn. He needs a home who will love and appreciate all that he is.
Since he connects immediately to his people, and he needs them nearby, living with a family who has someone at home most of the time is ideal. He needs an active family who is ready to exercise with him and take daily walks. A fenced-in yard is ideal, too, so he can have area for running and playing.
Beckett would enjoy older and respectful children, too.
