BILLIE, F/S, DSH, BROWN/BLACK TABBY BORN APRIL 07 2015
Billie is a shy but sweet cat who spent most of her life as a beloved outdoor kitty. She showed up in a family’s back yard as a young adult, and they have cared for her since. Billie is a precocious kitty, and insisted on an outdoor life until the situation in her neighbourhood changed. Now, she can no longer live safely outdoors, has accepted indoor “retirement”, and has been adjusting to the indoor life since November 2023. Unfortunately, the family who has cared for her most her life cannot keep her as an indoor pet due to medical issues, and they are seeking a new forever home for her where she can spend her golden years as a spoiled indoor kitty. Estimated to be approx. 9 years old, Billie is very healthy thanks to her loving foster family. She was spayed as a young adult, has had parasite treatments consistently through her adult life, and was always well fed and groomed by her human caregivers. Billie has always been cooperative at the vet and while being groomed, and has never reacted aggressively, instead choosing to pretend to be invisible when stressed. She tolerates trusted humans picking her up and placing her in the carrier, with reassurance that she will be safe. She has adjusted well to indoor life, learning to use the scratching post as a substitute for trees, and the litter box instead of the garden. She likes to keep her space clean and tidy, and is glad when her humans help her by sweeping around the litterbox and putting things in order.
A typical busy day in Billie’s life includes long naps in sunny windows or other cozy places, enjoying her meals and sampling new treats (including house plants within reach), spending time with her favourite humans, and participating in feline enrichment activities and hunting games. She has discovered the joys of teaser toys and squeaky mouse toys as a substitute for hunting outdoors, and interactive food puzzles/treats hidden around her space. She loves chasing balls and will play soccer with you! She does not care much for catnip or laser pointers, and would prefer instead to sit with her favourite human and chat while getting brushed or massaged. She enjoys music and will flick her tail with the music. Once you gain Billie’s trust, you have a friend and companion for life. She is wary of new humans, but will approach familiar people and those she has

More about this rescue
Our main purpose is to save the lives of cats in danger of death, starvation and disease and to educate the public about cats in their homes and neighbourhoods. Some of our rescues are hand-picked from overcrowded local shelters. Others have been rescued from known “dump” sites. Still others may be trapped from lives outside by kind volunteers or families or may be surrendered by families who can no longer care for them for various reasons.
