My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks
the CPR Adoption team

NOT IN VP

Date into Rescue: 03/24/24
Reason for being in rescue: Four puppies were dropped off at our gate late at night in a plastic tote. The owners left a note apologizing and told us they could not take care of the puppies.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC
Special Needs? Zeke Louie is up to date on vaccines for his age. He is neutered. Zeke Louie is available for transport to New York!
Weight: 29 lbs and still growing a bit - we expect Zeke Louie will be around 35 pounds when full grown. This is truly just an estimate.
Height:  est 14" and still growing a bit - we expect Zeke Louie will be between 18-20" when full grown. This is truly just an estimate.
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $199

Fence needed? Yes, this active little guy needs a fence to protect him from his highly curious and energetic nature that could lead him out of your yard and onto a road.

What kind of home would be best for me? This highly energetic cute little guy hasn't had the best start to life as he and his siblings were left at our front gate in a tote bag. This little guy is used to being with his siblings and will need a canine friend, or if you have room, one of his siblings, in his new home. Puppies love to run and play with one another, and this active cutie is no different. He will need a home with adopters that are ready to tire him out both mentally and physically.

Zeke Louie would be perfect for a family with children old enough to understand he is a living breathing animal and not a stuffed animal. He would be a great pal for middle school aged kids and older. Zeke Louie would also do well with a single owner that is home most, if not all, of the day who could keep him engaged in mental and physical activities throughout the day.  What matters most to him is that his adopter is happy, excited, and ready to take on loving and training this energetic little guy! Remember, he is just a baby and needs to learn EVERYTHING. There will be accidents and chewing as he grows up. You must be patient with him and teach him everything, including all his commands, walking on a leash, to potty outside, everything. The adopter who is kind, patient and caring with him will be rewarded with a life-long companion that will give you unconditional love. What a wonderful reward that is!

What is my personality like? This cutie has not met a stranger and looks at everyone as a playmate. He hasn't been socialized yet so he will need to learn these skills to interact with both dogs and cats. When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get along with your feline buddy, it's important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Zeke Louie is a puppy, and he is overjoyed when meeting people and almost always in 100% play mode. He does love being loved on and enjoys pets and cuddles. And naps. He loves naps after he's tired himself out from playing.

PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress three major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well-bred, well-trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog.

Our ideal puppy adopters are:

-experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets
-scheduled away from home for no more than four hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home
-stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc.)

Other tips and tidbits: Zeke Louie was dropped over our gate with no details. We have absolutely no history on him. Our vet estimates Zeke Louie's birthdate to be on or about 10/25/23. Zeke Louie is available for transport to New York!

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
