Kalimba was another abandoned dog as the many that find there way to SOS el Arca. Little Kalimba loved to go inside the primary school where she would “help “ the maintenance man, and at 10:00 am the kids would have breakfast outside in the school courtyard and she would sit with the kids who were happy to share their breakfast with her. The parents, however, didn’t like it and asked the school director to keep her away, but she loved the kids so much and the kids loved her, so she just kept coming back. The parents decided to kill her, yes, simply like that, they wanted her life ended because they didn’t want her there and around their children. So the director of the school called Sylvie urgently to take her so that her life could be saved.
Once at the shelter, Kalimba surprised the staff by giving birth too 2 babies.
She was extremely thin as well, so once she was healthy and her babies were old enough to be separated from her, we brought her to APM in hopes she could find a welcoming family here.
Now in care, we have found her love of people and children has not diminished. She is young, full of energy and life. This little lady is a tad nervous but not enough to keep her from a lap or a snuggle. She travels well in the vehicle but could use more training on leash as she is an adventurer at heart and loves to explore. We would not recommend any small animals or dogs as she has the tendency to want to chase and get snappy with them. She has no issues with the big dogs.
Kalimba’s ideal home would be one with a fenced in back yard where she could expend some of her energy. Kalimba would benefit from training and would thrive in an active lifestyle family. She has been clean in the home but is crated while her fosters are at work. She would do best with a yard she could play in and maybe a couple of kids to join in the fun. No apartments or condos.
If you feel you would be the right fit for Kalimba, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.allpawsmatter.ca/apply-to-adopt/
All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.
NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.
BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
