My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Beau, the majestic 5-year-old feline looking for his forever home! Beau is not just a cat; he's a big boy with a heart full of wisdom and a personality that's larger than life. This handsome fellow loves nothing more than a good round of pets, especially when they're delivered with care and attention to his preferences.

Don't be fooled by his bossy demeanor; Beau simply knows what he wants and isn't afraid to ask for it. His protective nature makes him a loyal companion, always keeping an eye out for those he loves. Despite his independent streak, Beau enjoys spending quality time with his human friends, especially if it involves gentle butt scratches, his absolute favorite!

One of Beau's standout qualities is his mellow disposition. He's not one to get easily ruffled, making him a calming presence in any home. Whether he's lounging in a sunny spot or curling up for a cozy nap, Beau adds a touch of serenity to his surroundings.

If you're looking for a cat with character, charm, and a love for butt scratches, Beau might just be the perfect match for you. Come meet this wonderful feline and discover the joy of having a wise and protective companion by your side!

Additional adoption info

1) The first step to meet the cats at Animal House is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
4) When your adoption is finalized, the adoption paperwork is completed and a $130 adoption fee for adult cats and $150 for kittens is collected.

More about this shelter

Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.

Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 100-250 cats and kittens at any given time.

The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
