My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please meet Freda! Freda came to Orphans all the way from Mexico via a shelter in Texas with her sister, Gloria. Freda is a young shepherd mix. She is a shy and sweet girl looking for her forever home in which she can really blossom!
She recently spent some time in a foster home and her wonderful foster parent had so many great things to say about her,
"Hi my name is Freda. I am a very shy girl but I warm up quickly. I'll wake you up in the morning with a gentle paw, a face lick, or a tennis ball ready to play. I enjoy being with my owner and doing whatever they do! I'll lay around the house during a lazy day or go on a run.
If we're in the car, I'll take a nap or enjoy some head rubs as I look around. I just want to be around you!! I'm very food motivated, and quickly learn tricks (sit and paw in two weeks!) with the right treats. My foster mom believes I'm house trained (I never had any accidents with her) and I'm not much of a barker (she only heard her bark three times!).
I was in a crate one day but since I do so well without it, my foster mom didn't have to use it more than that! Since I've lived in a shelter, I'm still learning how stairs work, but I can do a few steps now. I am the sweetest girl!"

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
