Meet George! He was one of four cockatiels that recently came to STAR when his owner was no longer able to care for him. George is a sweet old man who enjoys singing and hanging out in a more hands-off manner in his cage. George is a brave little guy, willing to eat millet from hands, but he is still unsure about stepping up. However, it’s only been a short time and he has come so far. George would love a patient home that is understanding as he deals with a bit of arthritis in his feet. His ideal home would love the company of a fabulous singer rather than requiring him to be hand-tame right away. With time, he could easily get there. Do you have this kind of home? We will review your application, and perform a background check, vet check and when applicable, a landlord check.

For most species, a meeting is required. For some species, multiple meetings may be needed or required.

Sign Adoption Contract

Once approved, sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

Whether interested in adopting a particular bird or not, you will need to fill out an Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. From there, our adoption team will process your application (including background check, veterinarian check for all current animals, and a home visit)
We will not ship any of our adoptable birds, and have a 100-mile adoption radius. We do not adopt to breeders. We are not able to adopt birds into homes that use Teflon product or smoke due to toxicity dangers.
