Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is the courtesy post and you will need to contact Amanda at the phone number below directly.
Guapo is a 55 pound German Shepherd/Husky mix with a medium/long coat. He is house trained, up to date on vaccinations, and neutered. He is approximately three years old. We took him in recently as a foster from the kennels of a local municipality and are looking for a good home for him. He was recovered as a stray by Animal Control about seven months ago with no tags/no chip. He was locally posted and apparently no one is looking for him. We were not looking for a dog, but since this dog was very friendly and well behaved, we decided to foster him. We have two children under three and he is very well behaved with them. He has not exhibited any signs of aggression toward them, nor with our cat. Other dogs in the neighborhood have barked at him and he didn't bark back. He pulls on his leash a bit during walks, but has shown signs of improvement with training. I ran with him on leash and he is a great dog to run with. He typically lays around the house between walks and sleeps on the floor next to the bed all night.
Pros:
*Vaccinated, neutered, and I have all vet records from his time with Animal Control.
*Quiet dog. Not much of a barker.
*Kid friendly
*Cat friendly (even when our cat is a jerk to him)
*Likes people, is affectionate and wants to be near his people.
*Responds to training
*No adoption fee (I work for the same city he came from, so he comes with a release of liability for the new owner to sign on behalf of the Animal Control agency that held him prior to foster.)
Unknowns:
He hasn't had any direct interaction with other dogs since we have had him, but he doesn't bark at other dogs even when they bark at him, so that's probably a good sign.
Cons:
The Husky breed is known to be good at escaping yards. He escaped our yard once even when our last lab/rottweiler mix could not. I added some chicken wire in one spot and we have not had any further issues. A well fenced yard is required as this breed is known to go exploring.
Please contact Amanda at (206) 979-0494. We are happy to have you meet him if interested.
ARRF has not met Guapo nd we heard you to do your own evaluation.
