My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gabrielle, born January 2021, is a stunning long-haired cat with a personality as captivating as her appearance. Her luxurious coat and bright eyes are just the beginning of what makes her so special.

Gabrielle is a playful and frisky feline who loves to chase toys and explore her surroundings. Her intelligence shines through as she quickly figures out puzzle toys and engages in interactive playtime with her human companions. Whether it's batting at feather wands or zooming around after a catnip mouse, Gabrielle's playful antics are sure to bring joy to any home.

While she may be initially reserved, Gabrielle warms up to people quickly, especially those who offer gentle pets and kind words. Once she trusts you, she's a devoted companion who loves lounging nearby and soaking up affection.

If you're looking for a cat with beauty, brains, and a playful spirit, Gabrielle could be the perfect match for you. Come meet this delightful feline and discover the joy she brings to every day.

Additional adoption info

1) The first step to meet the cats at Animal House is to email us at AHcatadoption@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name, age, address, and phone number. We will respond as soon as possible to answer your questions and schedule an appointment to visit our shelter. If you have already submitted an inquiry through Adopt-a-Pet or Petfinder about a particular cat, there is no need to send a separate email.
2) During your appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and work with an adoption coordinator to find the cat that is right for you. This process may involve meeting with numerous cats, or even making more than one visit to Animal House. You and your new cat will live together for a lifetime, so this step is important.
3) Before adoption, we ensure that your cat has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
4) When your adoption is finalized, the adoption paperwork is completed and a $130 adoption fee for adult cats and $150 for kittens is collected.

More about this shelter

Animal House Cat Rescue and Adoption Center is a private, non-profit, “no-kill” organization dedicated to providing the homeless, abandoned cats and kittens of St. Louis with a better life. We are committed to maintaining an adoption center that provides a safe, healthy and enriching environment, and our goal is a solid and lasting adoption for every cat and kitten in our care.

Animal House opened in 2010 when the City of St. Louis closed its municipal shelter and ended a number of services for stray animals. Not only did the 75 cats residing in their shelter need a place to go, the St. Louis community needed services for abandoned, homeless cats. Animal House was born out of that need. Today we house 100-250 cats and kittens at any given time.

The cats and kittens at Animal House are rescued from the streets of our community and often come from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment, or injury. We have created a safe place where cats in need find shelter, medical and nutritional support, individualized socialization and interaction, enrichment, lots of love, and the opportunity to connect with a loving, lifelong family. We impose no time limit on this process, giving each cat or kitten the time they need. We emphasize matchmaking throughout our adoption process to ensure the best possible match.
