My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I'm Kiera, a cute tortie kitty looking for my forever home and family. I might seem a bit shy when we first meet, but that's just shelter life. Once I get comfortable, I enjoy petting and will roll around for more attention. I can be timid at times and would love a low-key home where I can follow my human around when I want attention. But, I would love a home where I can go relax on the couch or window perch when I need my downtime. Bring me some tasty treats and we'll be good friends in no time!

Disclaimer: this cat has been diagnosed with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a retrovirus that causes immune dysfunction in cats. Luckily, many cats with FIV lead full, normal lives just like a non-FIV positive cat. FIV is spread through saliva and bites and is often seen in outdoor male cats that fight. Because FIV is hard to spread, FIV positive cats can live with regular, FIV negative cats and there is little risk to spreading of disease. Over time, cats with FIV may develop a weakened immune system. This can lead to infections, dental disease, and rarely the development of tumors/cancer. There is no cure for FIV, but symptomatic care can be provided if complications arise. Many FIV positive cats live their whole lives without having major health issues related to the disease. This cat is currently healthy and has good prognosis.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All adoptions of our cats and kittens are subject to approval by Town Cats. If approved, you can take home your new feline friend the same day provided the cat or kitten is ready to go! Check http://www.towncats.org/adopt for our most current adoption fees. Each cat will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested for leukemia/FIV, dewormed, defleaed, microchipped, plus routine medical check up done prior to delivery. Each adoption also includes 30 days free pet insurance and 20% discount coupon for Pet Food Express stores (check at time of adoption, sometimes we have alternate coupon books available).

Outdoor/Feral Cats adoptions require a site inspection and adoption fees vary depending on how many cats you adopt, a minimum $25 donation per cat is recommended as each cat will have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (and microchipped, if possible). We deliver feral cats to you and will provide the enclosure/cage required for minimum 30 day imprinting.

Ask us about senior cats for senior people rates too, which are negotiated based on the cat and the person's unique situation!

Go meet their pets

You can meet kitties at our shelter by appointment. We have some cats displayed in various stores throughout the bay area - we rotate them in and out, so stop by and see who's in the store this week! Our pet fairs change. For the latest up to date information, please check here at:
