My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Toby, a young and house-trained dog with a knack for adventure! This loyal 1-year-old Lab is playful, friendly, and smart. His intelligence shines through in his quick learning; he's housebroken and knows the command 'sit'! Toby is dog-friendly and loves his canine friends at the shelter, although he's not a huge fan of cats. He would be best suited to a home without children, as he tends to resource guard his food and toys. With some training, we feel he can overcome this. Toby loves squeaky toys and playing outdoors - a big backyard would be his dream! He's a big lovable lap dog that's looking for someone to take a chance on him. Adopt Toby, and you'll never have a dull day again!

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is to aid in the alleviation of distress and suffering of animals by operating a shelter in need of care, placing animals in suitable homes, and offering educational programs that promote animal welfare.

We receive our animals from people giving up their pets for a variety of reasons, including changes in family situations and moving. Some of our animals have been strays rescued from the streets by a kind citizen, but all of our animals are looking for permanent, loving forever homes.
