My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Noodle is ready to adopt!

Noodle came to us last fall as yet another dumped bunny. He was doing the best he could but was underweight and having troubles. At least, he'd been able to evade the area predators long enough to be rescued. He is now a happy, healthy boy looking for his forever home. He's got a nice personality, loving and playful! He wants a family that will love that little white spot on his nose and think he's beautiful. He wants to interact with his new family and have some room to run. He loves petting and snuggles, but still isn't all that sure about the 'picking up' part.....but will likely hop into your lap if you sit on the floor with him (once he gets settled into his new home with you.)

As with all of our bunnies, we are looking for a 'house bunny' situation (no outside hutches). We do not adopt to children so this would be a 'family pet' that would live indoors and cared for by adults. Kids can help and some of the bunnies do like interacting with kids! But adults need to be responsible for the care of the bunny since some of our bunnies came to us with severe issues due to neglect by a child previously.

They can live in an ex-pen when you are at work or away, but would love to free roam with the family when people are home. There is an adoption process that will involve a home visit to help us get the vibe of the home to help make sure we match up the right bunny to the right home setting. (We wouldn't want a particularly shy bunny to go into an active home, nor an active bunny into a 'boring' home! Lol!) We will help you match up with the right bunny and let you meet several bunnies that might be a match during our 'speed dating' session that comes after all the paperwork. (And, yes, we do have paperwork.) Our bunnies have come from high crisis situations so we take the time to make sure that this next home will be their last by providing all the support you might need along the way!

He was part of our bunny crew at our recent Easter Photo Fundraiser and he was well behaved and curious. Not all of our bunnies are brave enough to participate in public events like this, but Widget was! You can see from the photos that he was calm and curious during his personal photo shoot! A perfect little bunny gentleman!

Go meet their pets

Potential adopters can meet our adoptable bunnies after they have completed the steps in the adoption process and their adoption application has been approved. Since we are a foster based rescue, meeting bunnies is by appointment only. We do attend some events with our bunnies. We post upcoming events on our Facebook page www.Facebook.com/waywardrabbitssc

More about this rescue

We are a rescue for HIGH RISK rabbits. Most have been confiscated by animal control or from other life and death situations. Our bunnies were forgotten, neglected, or worse. These bunnies have been through some nightmare situations.

Adoption includes:
* spay or neuter
* RHDV vaccination
* emotional issues addressed during foster
* vet and health care given during foster as needed
* good bunny behaviors and socialization addressed during foster

Our bunnies have emerging personalities that can be both fun and frustrating as you go along. They may make mistakes, just as we all do. They are not perfect. But we have worked hard to give you the best possible bunny companion that we can.

We ask you to consider providing the happy ending to their stories by adding one of our companion rabbits to your life. If you are interested in applying for adoption or in applying to become a foster with us, please contact us for more information.

PLEASE NOTE that due to the volume of rabbits coming in directly from animal control, WR is NOT able to take in owner surrenders. We WILL try our best to help you through whatever issues you are having so that you can keep your rabbit as a beloved companion pet. DO contact us for advice!
