My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mender is a 6 lb bundle of personality. He loooves to play with humans and toys and makes hilarious growling noises while getting chased around. But his greatest love is of sunbathing. He also enjoys sitting in your lap in the morning as he wakes up. He acts quite catlike in how he cleans himself often. He is excellent on leash, housetrained, and crate trained. He knows sit, paw, and down. He only barks when someone is at the door, but quiets down quickly with a firm “shh!”. He will go into his crate on his own at 9:30pm for bedtime. He loves his routines! He would make an excellent travel companion as he fits well in a pet carrier and is only 11 inches tall at the shoulder.

He displays aggression towards other dogs as his now-healed jaw injury was likely caused by another dog, but can warm up to co-exist peacefully with another dog (it just takes a few days of adjustment - see photo!). He is so small that he cannot inflict any damage, so if you have a non-aggressive dog at home, he would do very well.

call to schedule an appointment 530-895-8888

Step 3: APPROVAL, PAYMENT, & PICKUP
Your new family member can be picked up if you're approved and the animal is spayed or neutered. Payment of the adoption fee is required to reserve the pet. Adoption fees vary for each dog, puppy, cat and kitten.

Wags and Whiskers Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all breed, NO KILL, animal rescue organization, incorporated in August 2015. We are a primarily volunteer driven group with a number years experience with animals and rescue. Our mission is to rescue, foster, rehabilitate and rehome, abandoned, abused and unwanted animals in Willows and Chico, California.

We rescue animals at risk of euthanasia in shelters, as well as those surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. We are committed to helping the most needy, as well as the readily adoptable.
