Hi, my name is Nala!

Dog Compatibility: I would need a tolerant, mature dog; let's meet to see if we're compatible.
Cat Compatibility: Ask about my previous history; slow introductions recommended!
Child Compatibility: Ask about previous history, I am seeking an adult-only home!

Go meet their pets

We have events througout the year to highlight our adoptable animals. One favorite event each year is our local public swimming pool closes to the public in the fall and the very last day the pool is open only to dogs in the community. Shelter dogs play, splash and mingle with public dogs in two pools and cool off for the final hot days of the summer.

We post our events on our website and Facebook and through other various media outlets.

More about this rescue

The mission of the SPCANN is to be an innovative regional leader in responsible treatment of homeless cats and dogs, primarily through their rescue and placement in forever loving homes, and by promoting spaying and neutering to control pet overpopulation. We accomplish our mission with dedication to our core values and a lifetime commitment to our animals.

We are Reno's first no-kill animal shelter, founded in 1998. Each year our shelter develops more progressive programs such as our Rural Rescue Program where we aggressively rescue animals from rural animal control agencies and support their joint efforts to move animals out of their facilities and into ours to avoid euthanasia. We also have expanded our reach into schools with our Humane Initiative Program where we teach and show compassion to animals. We have more programs and many projects on the horizon - visit our website to see more!!!
