Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Searching for your new best friend that will give you all of their attention? Good news, Whiskey is looking for the exact same thing! Whiskey is hoping to find a furrever family that shares his love of adventure and play.
~ Whiskey is looking for a home that will keep him active and give him plenty of enrichment. ~ This guy always has lots to say, so he is looking for a house with no shared walls so he does not upset his new neighbours! ~ Whiskey would like his new family to be ready to take him to at least 1 training class or sign up for a GoodPup Scholarship at the time of his adoption to help work on his basic training, manners and socialization. ~ He does not understand how big and goofy he is, due to his lack of manners and his size he is looking for a home with older children. ~ Whiskey seems to have characteristics that resemble hound type breeds. His new family should do some hound research before bringing this sweet boy home. ~ Whiskey is looking for a home with no small animals or cats due to possible prey drive.
Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed: - High Energy - Vocal - Prey drive - Jumpy - Mouthy - Under-Socialized
Explanation of Behaviours: - A young dog who is very high energy and will need a lot of time, attention, training, exercise, and enrichment daily to do well. - He will need to continue to be socialized in a safe and proper way to help him up for success in the future. - He will need to have continued work on his basics as well as more difficult behaviours such as jumping and mouthing. - He can be vocal at times, especially when seeking attention.
This dog would benefit from: An active home - An adult home or family with older children - No small animals or cats - No apartments or homes with shared walls - Lots of training and socialization - Lots of time and attention
Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog: - Basic training - Socialization - Work on manners and self-control (including mouthing and jumping)
Field trip program: The Field Trip with Whiskey was a lot of fun. We went on a long walk and spent time playing in the backyard. He never wanted to stop! He was good in the house. He didn't even attempt to go on the furniture. He likes catching balls and running around, so he would love a backyard! He is a good boy, with tons of energy! He will make a good best friend!
**For more information on any behavior's stated above, please check out our behavior fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions
**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
