3/27/24 Update: Diego & Dora are a sibling-pair, very much bonded to one another. These two were adopted and found themselves a home in which they were well cared for for the past two years. Due to the change of living conditions and long working hours for their previous owner, they have been brought back to Safe Haven knowing that a well-suited home will be out there looking for them! Diego & Dora are quite the pair - they both have their own personalities, but compliment one another well. They enjoy their walks, and are both great on a leash. Since both are somewhat larger-sized dogs, a home with lots of room to explore and a yard to safely run and exercise would be great for these siblings. A fenced-in yard would be a huge bonus for them! Daily enrichment, exercise, and love (of course) are all part of their requests for their new home. Enrichment activities and daily exercise will not only help stimulant their busy minds, but will also help tire them out during "quiet time". Diego & Dora are looking for a home with no small pets - as they are both have a high prey drive that can be witnessed when seeing a rabbit, squirrels, and cats.
To ensure proper introductions, we would ask for an initial meet & greet to take place for any current dogs in a potential future home for these two. In order to set up a meet & greet, please complete an online adoption application found on our website at www.wesavepets.com. Once the application has been submitted a Safe Haven volunteer will be in contact to discuss the next steps.
Please read more below to learn about their initial arrival to Safe Haven in 2021:
This wonderful sibling pair is looking for a new home together due to a disabling medical condition of their owner that left him unable to meet their needs.
Dora and Diego were born on April 1, 2017. They are spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations, Heartworm testing and monthly preventative, and have been boarded at a local facility that gives them glowing reviews. Dora and Diego are great dogs that enjoy meeting new people, even kiddos! They also have been enjoying long walks by a local dog walker, who also takes them to the dog park. They do get along with certain other dogs, but not all dogs, because Dora was once attacked by another dog. So dog introductions need to be done carefully since they can understandly be a bit selective in their canine friends. Their family also reports that Dora and Diego need a new home without cats, because both dogs do have a very high prey drive that is witnessed when they see a rabbit or squirrel - so their ideal home will not have any small pets.
