NALA is a 3 year old female great dane mix. She was surrendered to the shelter when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. Nala currently weighs 90 lbs. She is currently with a great foster so we're getting to know her much better.
Here's what we know. She loves people and other dogs. For her size, she's quite gentle and has become the best friend of a 3 year old. Some days, she likes her crate, some days she doesn't. (although she doesn't do anything destructive when she out). She loves to sleep on the couch, and she is house trained. Here is her quirk. Once she goes outside, she doesn't want to come in. And due to her size, she's hard to move if she doesn't want to do. At this point, walking her on a leash is a challenge.
Her perfect family will be one that has time to continue to work with her. She will need a good, fenced yard. She is still learning new things and the routines of her foster home and she's making good progress. She has all the signs of a dog that wasn't socialize properly as a youngster. We do know her previous owner had been ill for a while, so Nala was probably to her own devices. In person, her brindle coat with white accents, is just gorgeous!
If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Please visit our website at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com and click on Nala's picture in "Adoptable Dogs". Additional adoption FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants based on our "best family fit" approach. Thank you!
