My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Neptune! This young pup is ready to find a home where he can live out his life to the fullest. With his irresistible pout and hopeful eyes, he’s just waiting for someone to give him a chance and see what a wonderful friend he can be. He has gotten along well with other dogs and would appreciate another dog with similar playstyles as him (gentle). He would also do best with gentle children who understood his needs. Neptune is a special-needs sweetheart and our staff would be more than happy to share all the details! Neptune is a pro at giving puppy-dog eyes, loves gentle pets, and is always ready to shower you with love. If you’re looking for a buddy who’s as special as he is, come meet Neptune! You might just find your new best friend!

More about this shelter

WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
