Meet Jake, a shy yet curious seven-year-old German Shepherd with a heart full of loyalty. His shy nature makes him a bit weary of new faces and situations, but once he is comfortable and gets to know you, he’ll stick by your side. Jake loves exploring his surroundings, sniffing out new scents , hiking, and being on the water. Jake is housebroken, has excellent leash manners and walks calmly by your side. His obedience training has taught him to listen and respond to commands. Jake was not socialized before coming to the shelter and as a result was nervous and unsure around other dogs. He has been pack walking and getting out into the community and with this and training, you can see the improvement. His curious nature comes out when with the other dogs as he looks for them during these walks. Jake would love a home with older teens and an experienced owner who is willing to be patient and continue his training. He could probably live with another dog with the proper introduction, but no cats. Adopt Jake and you’ll gain a loyal companion who will explore the world by your side and provide a steadfast presence in your life.

We ask all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application which allows us to check certain points of reference (vets, home ownership status, previous pets, etc). If the application looks good, the adopter signs the adoption contract which states, among other things, the animal(s) will have a permanent home with said adopter and if for any reason this becomes impossible, the animal must be returned to Four Legs Good. Four Legs Good reserves the right to place a follow-up phone call or visit, with notice, within the first year of adoption.

Four Legs Good is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing the most humane treatment of Rockland County animals in need. We started as a small group of dedicated volunteers who decided to make a difference in the lives of feral, homeless and abandoned animals. We are currently working out of the RG CARES Animal Shelter.
